The San Diego County Employees' Charitable Organization (CECO) has been the charitable arm of the County of San Diego since 1956. CECO has distributed over $7 million to the local community by way of grants to local non-profit organizations and assistance to eligible employees and retirees facing a crisis. In 2016, CECO was formally recognized as a Live Well San Diego Partner, joining many other organizations in our region in helping bring the Live Well San Diego vision of a region that is Building Better Health, Living Safely and Thriving to life. CECO is employee-managed and volunteered-based and distributes 100% of funds raised back to the community. CECO is funded by the generosity of County employees and retirees who lend a hand via biweekly payroll contributions, one-time donations, and/or volunteering in CECO events. The CECO Executive Committee is elected by the CECO Board of Directors and serve a two-year term.
